TCAFP is the local chapter of the Texas Academy of Family Physicians (TAFP) and the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP). We are a professional organization comprised of family physicians, residents, and medical students dedicated to advancing family medicine and supporting one another in practice and education.
Promote and uphold the highest standards in family medicine
Support continuing medical education for physicians at all career stages
Mentor and guide students and residents pursuing family medicine
Advocate for the rights of patients and physicians
Encourage open dialogue and professional camaraderie
We believe in the power of community and shared knowledge to strengthen the future of primary care.
TCAFP provides a collaborative space for professionals in family medicine to learn, grow, and connect.
Monthly Educational Meetings: We host regular meetings that feature expert-led discussions on relevant medical topics. These sessions generally offer CME or Ethics credit and encourage open conversation among peers.
Support for Students and Residents: Medical students and residents are vital to the future of our field. TCAFP provides opportunities for mentorship, networking, and professional development.
Advocacy and Ethics: We promote ethical medical practice in accordance with the American Medical Association and advocate for family physicians to practice at the full scope of their training.
TCAFP is governed by a Board of Directors that includes:
President (also serves as Chair of the Board)
Vice President/President-Elect
Secretary-Treasurer
Immediate Past President
Executive Director
These offices are elected by voting members during our biennial November meeting. The Board oversees our programs, finances, and strategic direction, and ensures that all activities align with our mission.
